The Races of Dar'Lorn Empty
PostSubject: The Races of Dar'Lorn   The Races of Dar'Lorn EmptyWed May 29, 2013 8:41 pm

Throughout history, Dar’Lorn had never been a country that discriminated against another Race no matter how odd, ugly, pompous, or out-of-place they seemed. The Count’s simple law was that all people were the same deep down in their hearts and nothing would ever change that and most people followed those kind, yet strong words. With that being said people across the lands of gathered into Dar’Lorn turning it into a Melting Pot of societies far different than one another, most one another accepting each other for who they were. Of course there are still vast rivalries between those with past turmoil but in the future the Count hopes that they will smooth over those small bumps from the past and forge a stronger upcoming in the country.

Abiding by his words proves to be much beneficial as those who continue to use harsh, underlying tones towards another for their race have been seen to receive a punishment by the local military. So to speak, there is an unspoken law against discrimination to the point where one could be disciplined with the death sentence. However, though the Count control a large portion of the country that does not believe that each race on their own has a leader who governs their moves as a group. Some being more sly and conceiving then others at times even.

PostSubject: The Humans   The Races of Dar'Lorn EmptyWed May 29, 2013 9:01 pm

The Humans

Kingdom: Dar’Lorn

Leader(s):

Natural Appearance: Humans typically stand from 5 feet to a little over 6 feet tall and weigh from 125 to 250 pounds, with men noticeably taller and heavier than women. Thanks to their penchant for migration and conquest, and to their short life spans, humans are more physically diverse than other common races. Their skin shades range from nearly black to very pale, their hair from black to blond (curly, kinky, or straight), and their facial hair (for men) from sparse to thick. Plenty of humans have a dash of nonhuman blood, and they may demonstrate hints of elf, orc, or other lineages. Members of this race are often ostentatious or unorthodox in their grooming

Personality: Humans are the most adaptable, flexible, and ambitious people among the common races. They are diverse in their tastes, morals, customs, and habits. Others accuse them of having little respect for history, but it’s only natural that humans, with their relatively short life spans and constantly changing cultures, would have a shorter collective memory than dwarves, elves, gnomes, or halflings.

Advantages: Humans as a whole are extremely loyal and show a great potential for learning over the other races. Their adaptability also makes them a good choice for a sword-for-hire, mercenary, or personal guard.

Disadvantages: The core of mankind can be corrupted with ease, greed slipping its way into their minds with the promise of riches and adventure. Humans can also fall prey to disease and are not born with magical properties, so learning the art of Magic can bit a little harder than most.

PostSubject: The Elves   The Races of Dar'Lorn EmptyWed May 29, 2013 9:11 pm

The Elves

Kingdom: Unknown

Leader(s):

Natural Appearance: Elves are short and slim, standing about 4- 1/2 to 5-1/2 feet tall and typically weighing 95 to 135 pounds, with elf men the same height as and only marginally heavier than elf women. They are graceful but frail. They tend to be pale-skinned and dark-haired, with deep green eyes. Elves have no facial or body hair. They prefer simple, comfortable clothes, especially in pastel blues and greens, and they enjoy simple yet elegant jewelry. Elves possess unearthly grace and fine features. Many humans and members of other races find them hauntingly beautiful. An elf reaches adulthood at about 110 years of age and can live to be more than 700 years old. Elves do not sleep, as members of the other common races do. Instead, an elf meditates in a deep trance for 4 hours a day. An elf resting in this fashion gains the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep. While meditating, an elf dreams, though these dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. The Common word for an elf’s meditation is “trance,” as in “four hours of trance.”

Personality: Elves are more often amused than excited, and more likely to be curious than greedy. With such a long life span, they tend to keep a broad perspective on events, remaining aloof and unfazed by petty happenstance. When pursuing a goal, however, whether an adventurous mission or learning a new skill or art, they can be focused and relentless. They are slow to make friends and enemies, and even slower to forget them. They reply to petty insults with disdain and to serious insults with vengeance.

Advantages: Unlike the Humans, the Elves are born with the natural talent to use and create Magic. Their bodies combined with the magical force known as Magicka which is also the life-force of the world. With that connection, it also melds their souls with those of animals and the elemental forces themselves, allowing them to speak freely. The Elves are also known to be a crack shot with a bow and arrow.

Disadvantages: When an Elf is exposed to the Magicka of the world it also holds a toll on their bodies, the strength of their physical bodies weakening as they grow older. In melee fights they do not fare well against most and rely on either magic or range warriors to protect them. It has also been seen that some Elves have become addicted to Magicka and become dependent on its life-force for survival, as the withdrawals could become so bad that they will die.

The Races of Dar'Lorn Empty
PostSubject: The Tsukiyomi   The Races of Dar'Lorn EmptyWed Jun 05, 2013 8:32 pm

The Tsukiyomi

Kingdom: Unknown

Leader(s): Aurora Tansei Sakura Ohzora

Natural Appearance: With pale skin that holds a faint sheen of mother of pearl when beneath direct moonlight, graceful in movement that appears otherworldly and floating aloft from the ground somewhat, the Tsukiyomi are elegant and graceful like that of the elves yet they still hold quite a variety of shapes, forms and sizes like that of humans. These beings are not born of Dar'Lorn naturally as the other races but instead at times they are created by the influences of the world upon crystal that has been fragmented, broken or dislodged from the moon above that over time begins to develop as though it were an egg. Their lives in total years are indeed very long yet much of the early years are spent either in development within their cocoons or at an earlier age through rapid development come into being. They live within a hierarchical group, those more sensitive to the heavens above holding higher purity of blood. Those that are less influenced by celestial bodies and more by the natural environment of Dar'Lorn, knows as 'Terristiea', the middle class dubbed 'Enlightened' have blood that is high in purity it is found in that of the aristocrats and nobles. There is an extremely rare third tier however, one that has their blood purity higher than that of even the noble class and has been dubbed 'Celestial'. They hold the most pure blood in their race, so much so it has the appearance of liquid ruby. During their ceremony that celebrates the initiation and birth of a new member of their race, the newest Tsukiyomi will have an array of stones and thread fibers sewn into their body, the materials selected based upon the purity of their blood. The Terristiea class are given Cotton threads and Pearls with a simple design, the Enlightened, Opal and Silver with an ornate and elaborate design. The Celestials are given, Platinum, Moonstone and for the extremely rare, Opal for added ornamentation with an extremely complex and ostentatious design rumored to hold secrets within it's very depths, receiving these designs are often lengthy and extremely painful affairs for the receiving party.

Personality: Diverse in all their personality traits, they all however hold a great respect for other races and their mannerism's, beliefs and customs due to their innate curiosity, sometimes taking traits f other cultures and adopting them as personal traits or features. As a right of passage, they often undergo a ceremony that only the rare and privileged few outside their race are permitted to witness and they do not speak of the details to strangers.

Advantages: Extremely agile and fast, silent in their movements, flexible and specialists with their mastery to either Magical or Physical prowess. Death does not mean an end of their existence, but simply they are reborn once more from the sacred tree, their appearance returning to it's original state. Naturally make good thieves or hunters due to their stealth.

Disadvantages: The need to consume blood during the new moon [No moon/dark moon] can cause great difficulty to form bonds with others. Extreme weakness to gold, causing illness, fever and at times, a true death [No rebirth] based on quantity, purity and duration of exposure. Always partly Neutral in their alignment. Their exotic appearance is difficult to hide in public. Sunlight and fire has a weakening effect upon them and if the temperature rises to much they are likely to faint,. collapse or suffer heatstroke easily. Rebirth erases all their memories of their previous life. Cannot specialize in both Physical prowess [examples are warriors] and Magical prowess [example are mage's] only one type can be claimed.
